Project Description

Inspired by the future of solar-punk, our Interactive Fashion design merges green urban architecture design with fashion to bring a fresh perspective on sustainable design. What you can see is a piece compiled of sustainable practices, from 3D modeling the top to be a flexible textile meant for any body shape, to the adjustable skirt that has an ecosystem of its own to contribute to the air we breathe. The textile on the skirt is free hand embroidered to emulate the idea of creating our own materials rather than purchasing from un-sustainable sources. For the kinetic aspects, we have the back piece which pulls on the flexible top and then releases to bring attention to their breath. Breathing is something that we do passively in our everyday life but without it and the fresh air, we no longer have this ability to live. For the ecosystem on the skirt to flourish, we have 6 mist motors to keep the plants alive and well. With each detail, we now truly become one with nature's fresh air we rely on, and by simply watching the wearer breath, you suddenly become aware of your breath and its importance.

This webpage is THE documentation for my Interactive Fashion final project, Take a Breath

Here I documented my (almost 1.5 month’s) project development. Yes, you may not be able to see these things by directly observe our project, and yes, I made a lot of mistakes, encountered tons of millions of failures. But these trials and errors MADE our project 💚

I categorized the documentation into several parts —

Feel free to read everything, or just choose those you find most interesting :D
